Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply to this website and to bookings at PowerupDash.
In short
Entry is 20+ with photo ID. A table reservation is free to hold. VIP, party and hire bookings are confirmed with a deposit and written terms.
About these terms
These terms apply to your use of powerupdash.com and to any booking you make with PowerupDash, operated by PowerupDash of 54 London Street, Lyttelton, New Zealand, 8082. By using this website or making a booking you agree to them. Where a specific written booking confirmation we send you says something different, that confirmation applies to that booking.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be limited.
Using this website
- The information on this site is provided in good faith and kept as current as we can. Menus, line-ups, packages and prices can change, and availability varies by date.
- Prices shown are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. They are a guide to what we charge rather than a binding quote until we confirm your booking.
- You may not attempt to disrupt the site, extract data from it by automated means beyond ordinary search engine crawling, or use it for anything unlawful.
- Submitting the enquiry form sends a request. It does not create a confirmed booking.
- External links are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the content of sites we do not operate.
Entry to the venue
- Entry is restricted to 20+. Every guest must produce current photo ID — a New Zealand driver licence, Kiwi Access Card or passport. Photocopies, expired documents and images on a phone are not accepted.
- Our door team may refuse entry or ask a guest to leave, including for intoxication, aggressive or unsafe behaviour, failure to produce ID, high-vis clothing or gang insignia, or breach of these terms. The door team's decision is final.
- The dress code is smart casual. On themed nights we may apply it more firmly.
- Entry is free on most nights. Selected guest-DJ and themed nights carry a door charge, which we will tell you about on request before you travel.
- Last entry is one hour before close, and earlier if the venue has reached capacity.
- We may close all or part of the venue, or change the programme, where it is necessary for safety, maintenance, licensing or a private booking.
Enquiries and reservations
- A booking exists only once we have confirmed it to you by phone or email.
- Standard table reservations are held free of charge. We hold a reserved table for up to 30 minutes past your stated arrival time unless you tell us you are running late.
- Please tell us as early as possible if your numbers change. Significant changes may mean moving to a different area or package.
- The lead guest named on a booking is responsible for the conduct of the group and for any tab agreed for it.
VIP and bottle service bookings
- VIP tables, booths and bottle service packages are confirmed with a deposit. The deposit amount, the balance and the change and cancellation terms are set out in writing before you pay.
- Package contents are as listed on our VIP page at the time of booking. Where a specific product is unavailable we will substitute something of equal or greater value and tell you.
- Your reserved space is held for the night of the booking. Extras ordered on the night are added to your tab and settled before you leave.
- Bottles are served by our team with mixers, ice and glassware. Bottles may not be removed from the venue.
- Entry for the guests named in your booking is included.
Private parties and venue hire
- Private party and venue hire bookings are confirmed with a deposit and a written agreement covering the area, the hours, the inclusions and the final price.
- Capacity depends on setup. Our events team confirm the maximum number for your chosen configuration, and that number cannot be exceeded for safety and licensing reasons.
- Final guest numbers are confirmed with us in the week before the event. Charges are based on the confirmed number or the actual attendance, whichever is greater, as set out in your agreement.
- Decorations must be free-standing or temporary, must not damage the venue, and must not include open flames, glitter cannons, confetti or anything that creates a hazard. Cakes are welcome and our team will plate and serve them.
- Hire does not include exclusive use of the whole venue unless your agreement says so.
- You are responsible for damage caused by your guests beyond fair wear and tear.
- Extensions past your booked window are charged at our published extra-hour rate and depend on our licensed hours.
Prices and payment
- All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Prices on this site may change; the price we confirm for your booking is the price that applies to it.
- We accept card and contactless payment at the bar. Deposits are arranged with our team.
- Tabs are available for booths, VIP tables and private events, with a limit you set. We will tell you as the limit is approached. The lead guest is responsible for settling it.
- Corporate bookings can be invoiced after the event where agreed in advance, payable on the terms stated on the invoice.
- We do not add a service charge.
Changes and cancellations
- Standard table reservations can be changed or cancelled at any time by telling us. We appreciate as much notice as possible on busy nights.
- VIP, party and hire bookings are subject to the written deposit and cancellation terms issued with your confirmation. Tell us as early as you can and we will move a booking where availability allows.
- If we have to cancel or materially change a confirmed booking — for example because of a closure, a licensing requirement or an event outside our control — we will offer an alternative date or refund the amounts you have paid for that booking.
- Advertised programmes, line-ups and themes may change. A change of DJ or theme is not grounds for cancelling a confirmed booking with a refund.
Service of alcohol
We operate as a responsible host. Our team will not serve alcohol to anyone who appears intoxicated or to anyone buying on behalf of a person who is, and will decline further service where it is the right call. Free drinking water, food and a quieter space are always available. If a guest has had too much, our team will help them get home safely with someone they came with. These decisions are not negotiable and are made for everyone's safety.
Conduct in the venue
- Treat our team and other guests with respect. Harassment, threats, violence and discriminatory behaviour result in removal and may be reported.
- Illegal substances are not tolerated anywhere on the premises.
- Drinks from outside the venue may not be brought in, and our drinks may not be taken out.
- Smoking and vaping only in the designated outdoor area.
- Filming or photography that disturbs other guests may be stopped by our team. Commercial filming needs our written permission.
- Follow instructions from our team on safety, capacity and evacuation.
Property and lost items
Please look after your belongings. Our staffed cloakroom operates on Friday and Saturday from 8pm for jackets and small bags, and items must be collected before close. Found property is held for a reasonable period — email us with the date and a description and we will check. We are not responsible for property that is lost, left behind or damaged, except to the extent our negligence caused it.
Liability
We take reasonable care to operate a safe venue and to provide the services you have booked. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in connection with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under New Zealand law — including your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
