Who we are
PowerupDash is a bar and nightlife venue operated by PowerupDash, registered in New Zealand and trading from 54 London Street, Lyttelton, New Zealand, 8082. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy, and we handle it in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
You can reach us about anything in this policy by email at [email protected], by phone on +64 22 689 1237, or in writing to the address above.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry, run your booking and operate the venue safely.
| Where it comes from | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Enquiry and booking form | Your name, email address, phone number, enquiry type, preferred date, number of guests and anything you write in the message field. Where an enquiry relates to our casino floor, a confirmation that you are 20+ or older. |
| Phone and email | Your contact details and the content of your enquiry, plus notes our team make so your booking is set up correctly. |
| At the venue | Booking and table details, bar tab and payment records, and CCTV footage of public areas. |
| Age verification | Our door team sight photo ID to confirm age. We check it and hand it back — we do not scan, copy or retain your ID document. |
| This website | Technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring site. Analytics and advertising data are only collected if you consent. |
We do not ask for information we have no use for, and you are never required to give us more than the fields marked as required on our form.
How we use your information
- Replying to your enquiry and confirming a table, booth, VIP package, party or venue hire.
- Setting up your booking on the night, including door lists, booth signage and tab limits.
- Taking deposits and payments, and issuing invoices for corporate bookings.
- Contacting you about a booking you have made — for example to confirm numbers, or to tell you about a change affecting your date.
- Keeping the venue safe, meeting our entry and host responsibilities, and dealing with incidents or lost property.
- Understanding how this website is used and measuring our advertising, where you have consented.
- Meeting our legal and record-keeping obligations in New Zealand.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you sent us an enquiry. If we ever offer a mailing list, joining it will be a separate, optional choice.
Why we are allowed to use it
We collect and use personal information because it is directly connected to running the venue and answering the enquiries people send us. Where consent is the basis — analytics and advertising cookies in particular — we ask for it first and you can withdraw it at any time using the link. Some records we keep because the law requires us to.
Cookies and website analytics
Necessary cookies make the site work and remember your cookie choice. Analytics and marketing cookies are switched off by default and only set if you turn them on. Nothing is pre-ticked, and declining does not limit your access to any part of this site.
Full detail of each category, including what is stored and for how long, is in our Cookie Policy.
Advertising and measurement
We advertise our bar, events and private hire online. Where you have given marketing consent, our advertising tags may measure which ads led to an enquiry and help show our ads to relevant audiences. Google acts as our advertising provider for this purpose — you can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at business.safety.google/privacy.
We operate Google Consent Mode v2. Until you consent, advertising and analytics storage are set to denied and no advertising identifiers are set on your device.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- our own team members who need it to run your booking;
- service providers who operate our website hosting, email, booking records and payment processing, under agreements that limit them to our instructions;
- analytics and advertising providers, where you have consented;
- professional advisers, insurers, or law enforcement where we are legally required or permitted to disclose, including in connection with a serious incident at the venue.
We do not disclose your information to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.
Storage and overseas disclosure
Our website hosting, email and analytics providers may store information on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy protections apply, as required under the Privacy Act 2020.
How long we keep it
| Record | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not become bookings | Up to 12 months, then deleted. |
| Booking and event records | Up to 24 months after the event, so we can handle follow-up questions and repeat bookings. |
| Payment, deposit and invoice records | As long as tax and financial record-keeping law requires. |
| CCTV footage | A short rolling period, then overwritten — unless retained for a specific incident. |
| Incident and host records | As long as needed for our legal obligations and any related claim. |
| Cookie consent record | Stored in your own browser until you clear it or change your choice. |
How we protect it
Access to booking and enquiry records is limited to the team members who need it. Accounts are password protected, this site is served over HTTPS, and payment card details are handled by our payment provider rather than stored by us. No system is completely secure, but if something goes wrong we will act quickly and notify you and the Privacy Commissioner where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you access to it;
- correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- delete information we no longer need to keep;
- stop contacting you, other than about a booking you have already made;
- withdraw your cookie consent, which you can do yourself at any time from the footer link.
Email [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we can, and within the statutory timeframe. We may need to confirm who you are before we release information.
CCTV and in-venue security
CCTV operates in public areas of the venue for the safety of guests and staff and to meet our responsibilities as a host. Cameras are not placed in bathrooms or any private area. Footage is held for a short rolling period and then overwritten, unless it is needed for a specific incident, an insurance matter or a request from law enforcement.
Age restriction
Entry to the venue is restricted to 20+ and this website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you believe we hold information about a minor, contact us and we will delete it.
Questions and complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, email [email protected] and we will look into it properly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand.
Changes to this policy
We review this policy periodically and will update this page when our practices change. The review date is shown at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will take reasonable steps to tell you.
